N’arlins

My mispronounciation of most American city names continues (first Helena, then Mobile). I mentioned to a southern man a couple days ago that we were heading to “New Orleeeeeeeeans” (orleans rhymes with beans) only to be rudely told that NOBODY from the south says it that way. It’s “New Orlins” or better yet, N’arlins. You [...]

The spy!

The plot thickens… On our way to New Orleans we saw this shady character: It can only mean one thing: after escaping from Franklin, the arch-fiend Vladisnikov has sent his spies to track us! (if this makes no sense to you, read the post entitled The Great Escape)

Los Personas Perdidos

For those of you non-lingually inclined: The Lost People (in ungrammatical spanish, I’m sure) The interstates in Florida definitely have more billboards. Vegetarian Heart Attack

Our latest collection of roadtrip quotables: In the car for way too long (again): “We’re driving sideways today. Straight across the map, left to right. It’s kinda hard on the tires” On a Tennessee Baptist Church: “Close Facebook. Open God’s Book” In the Park Ranger’s Office: “I’m Lost – I’ve gone to look for myself. [...]

Here it is: “The doors! The doors! The doors made me do it!!!” And no [...]

Look out, Swamp Squirrel!

We went out to look for gators. There are meant to be dangerous, dog-eating, hand-crunching, sneaky-eyed alligators all over Florida. Under the pretense of walking Badger, we went to the east side of Lake Tarpon, to John Chestnut Senior Park, to find them. No luck. All we found was an abundance of swamp squirrels. People [...]
